I practice psychotherapy with adults, individually or with families/partners. The focus of my practice is helping people to recover from anxiety and anxiety attacks, addictions of all kinds including alcohol counseling and other substance abuse, trauma, helping you identify the symptoms of PTSD and co- dependency issues. I work very specifically with those who want to learn how to take care of their emotional health, often starting with learning what emotional health is and learning stress management strategies. It has been my experience that addiction and anxiety/depression are more often than not co-occurring and often trauma treatment should be included and these all need to be addressed comprehensively. I help people who are trying to define their needs are and learn to live a life authentic to themselves and who they are.
My life’s work is to help people who desire a more authentic and improved quality of life. You have what you need within you. You just need to access it. The way I work varies from client to client but I use a great deal of techniques drawn from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which focuses on learning to become aware of and learn to change your thought processes. I also include techniques from MB-CBT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). We will learn about self- compassion and practice compassion exercises. I use and strongly support a holistic approach with varying integrative therapies that focus on integrating body, mind and spirit. I often teach mindfulness meditation exercises and breathing exercises in sessions and may assign these as work in between sessions to provide a quicker result for you. I want you to have a health mind and body. I am training specifically for yoga to use with mental illness and look forward to developing this. The treatment you receive will be designed to meet your needs.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been practicing since 1998. I have been approved as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. My most recent accomplishment is completing a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and I am a Registered Yoga Teacher. I have specialized training in yoga for addictions and yoga for trauma. I have been trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and completed a course in mindful curriculums from Mindful Schools.
