Hello, my name is Shane and I would like to work with you. Life can be challenging and we may want to make changes. It can be difficult to reach out or even know where to start sometimes. I want you to know that you are not alone and do not have to face things you are going through by yourself. The relationship between the patient and the therapist is an important part of the therapeutic process that can help facilitate change.
I enjoy working with individuals, families, and couples and have worked with many people from different backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. I provide counseling for children, adolescents, and adults and address a variety of concerns and mental health issues. While I am a generalist in practice, I provide a framework with a holistic approach that is individualistic and has cognitive based elements. Some of the issues I work with include Anxiety, Depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, behavior and compliance problems, Mood Disorders, self- image and self-esteem, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, grief and loss, trauma, family conflict, marriage/partner relational problems, LGBTQ issues, and gender dysphoria.
My therapeutic approach incorporates a holistic view that combines more than 15 years of clinical experience along with the teachings and wisdom of numerous teachers, mentors, and practitioners from many disciplines. I strive to be open-minded, empathetic, and provide a safe space that is non-judgmental. By utilizing elements of cognitive behavior, therapeutic play interventions, artistic and creative expression, relaxation, and other techniques and modalities, the potential for changes someone wants to occur increases. As I attain more skills and additional trainings with evidence based approaches, I will incorporate these where applicable.
