April McSpadden , a Licensed Professional Counselor, has been providing counseling services since 2008. She is a child of the military (an Army Brat) and has had the privilege of living in Japan as well as Germany. This, she feels, has been influential in her cultural awareness and open mindedness to all walks of life. Although she has 9 years of experience working specifically with children ages 5 to 18, she also enjoys working with adults; to include the senior population (ages 55+).
April is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She is LGBTQ friendly and believes that every individual is unique and has purpose on the Earth. She is a firm believer in the power of positivity and strives to provide empowerment during each session. Some of the therapeutic techniques she uses in therapy include guided imagery, progressive relaxation, grounding, and positive affirmations. She often uses cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in treatment while also having a person-centered approach. She recently obtained her Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method certification and is able to incorporate yoga methods with traditional counseling to provide a more integrative approach to helping clients work through the trauma(s) they have experienced throughout life.
April works in the Clinton office on Wednesday and Thursday evenings as well as every other Saturday. She looks forward to working with you in the future.
